Eastern Students Take Back the Night

Willimantic, CT (04/19/2017) — In commemoration of April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month, the Women's Center and Sexual Assault & Interpersonal Violence Response Team (SAIV-RT) at Eastern Connecticut State University held its annual "Take Back the Night" rally and candlelight vigil for student survivors of sexual and interpersonal violence. The event empowers, supports and provides a safe space for student survivors to share their stories and support others.

Ambassadors and counselors from the Women's Center, SAIV-RT, Counseling and Psychological Services, Campus Police and the Sexual Assault Crisis Center of Eastern, CT were there to support students.

"Take Back the Night" is an international event and non-profit organization with the mission of ending sexual, relationship and domestic violence in all forms. "Take Back the Night" offers students an opportunity to advocate against sexual and domestic violence and raise awareness on the attitudes, beliefs and behaviors that perpetuate sexual violence against women in a safe space surrounded by fellow students and support services.
