Eastern to host 'Path to College' series at Willimantic Public Library

Willimantic, CT (09/26/2022) — Eastern Connecticut State University in collaboration with the Willimantic Public Library will offer a series of public programs called "Eastern Path to College" throughout the month of October. Every Tuesday at 6 p.m., at the Willimantic Public Library a free informational session will focus on a different aspect of the college experience.

Oct. 6: "How to apply to college and Eastern's exciting programming"

The informational session will educate attendees about Eastern's admissions process and vibrant residential campus. The deans of Eastern's School of Arts and Sciences and School of Professional Studies will highlight the many exciting academic programs available at Eastern, including in-demand fields such as health sciences, education, data science and business administration. Learn how Eastern students develop employability skills through hands-on experiences such as internships, undergraduate research, and creative activities that prepare them for exciting and successful careers.

Oct. 11: "How to apply for financial aid and what Eastern can offer"

Topics will include the types of financial aid available to students, how to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be eligible for financial aid and best practices when searching for private scholarships.

Oct. 18: "Who can keep you on track in college?"

Transitioning to college life can be challenging. However, there will be lots of resources in place to provide support and guidance during your experience. During this session, we'll provide tips and tricks to find and make the most of these resources!

Oct. 25: "How can you gain real world internship experience during college?"

Learn the difference between a paid internship (CO-OP) and an unpaid internship while discussing the importance of both types of experiences. This session will highlight some of the companies that hire Eastern interns and different tips to help navigate the job search process. Learn about the various resources that are in place to help students find and succeed at their internships.
