MEDIA ADVISORY: Eastern's 132nd Commencement at XL Center

Willimantic, CT (05/13/2022) — Eastern Connecticut State University will graduate 970 students at its 132nd Commencement Exercises on May 17 at the XL Center in Hartford. The formal program begins at 6 p.m. with remarks by University officials and the commencement address by Lena Rodriguez, CEO and president of the Community Renew Team in Hartford. Members of the media are invited to attend.

The 132nd Commencement Exercises honor the undergraduate class of 2022. The ceremony marks Eastern's return to the XL Center since spring 2019 - one year prior to the onset of COVID-19.

Other highlights of the Commencement Exercises include the processional and recessional being performed for the first time by Eastern's World Percussion Ensemble; the senior class address and gift by Karina Torres '22 of Meriden; and conferring of an honorary degree to commencement speaker Rodriguez. The School of Education & Professional Studies will receive their diplomas first, followed by the School Arts & Sciences.
