Eastern Basketball Player Mya Villard Named to NEWBA Honor Roll

Eastern Connecticut State University student-athlete Mya Villard '20 of Cromwell has been named to the weekly New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Honor Roll for the week ending Jan. 7. The sophomore, who majors in Criminology and plays the forward position, is one of five student-athletes from New England named to the list.

Villard has been the lifeline of the Warriors this season. This past week during two road games, she generated nearly 40 percent of her team's offense. After unloading a career-high 30 points on Johnson & Wales on Jan. 3, Villard pushed her weekly scoring average to 27.5 points per game. On the season, Villard is currently third in the Little East Conference in field goal percentage (54.9) as well as scoring (18.5 points per game).
