Eastern Basketball Player Mya Villard of Cromwell Voted to NEWBA Honor Roll

2018 Feb 21

For the second time this year, Eastern Connecticut State University student-athlete Mya Villard '20 of Cromwell has been named to the weekly New England Women's Basketball Association Honor Roll. The sophomore, who majors in Criminology and plays the forward position, is one of five student-athletes from New England named to the list.

Villard has played a major role for the Warriors recently, as the team went 3-0 for the week through Jan. 29. The scorer added a few more big game performances to her resume, averaging 24 points and 9.7 rebounds per game over the winning streak, during which Eastern was victorious over Western Connecticut State University, Dean College and Plymouth State. On the season, Villard is third in the Little East Conference in field goal percentage (52.9 percent) and fourth in scoring (19 points per game).

The Little East Conference (LEC) was established in 1986 as a single-sport league by six public institutions throughout New England. The LEC has since become a multi-sport league with eight primary members, six affiliate members and 19 championships.
