Eastern Basketball Player Tarchee Brown Selected as LEC Basketball Player-of-the-Week

2017 Dec 20

Eastern Connecticut State University basketball player Tarchee Brown '18 of Vernon was named Player-of-the-Week by the Little East Conference (LEC) for the week ending on Dec. 10. This is the 11th individual award of Brown's career. He is a Sociology major.

Brown has been the dominant playmaker for the Warriors over the past month--the team has a record of 8-1 this season. Averaging 25.3 points per game, 6.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.0 steals, he has been the driving force behind the team's rise to No. 20 in the nation. On Dec. 9 against Plymouth State University, Brown either scored, set up (with a rebound/steal) or assisted on the Warrior's first 17 field goals.

In the Warriors only loss to Worcester Polytechnic Institute on Dec. 7, Brown scored a season-high 32 points in 40 minutes. That raised his season average to 23.3 points per game, tops in the LEC. His consistent level of scoring has also placed him in rare company among the Warriors' best-ever players, as he needs only 71 more points to become Eastern's all-time leading scorer.

The Little East Conference (LEC) was established in 1986 as a single-sport league by six public institutions throughout New England. The LEC has since become a multi-sport league with eight primary members, six affiliate members and 19 championships.
