Eastern Connecticut State University Student Charles Sanady of West Hartford Studies in Spain

Eastern Connecticut State University student Charles Sanady '18 of West Hartford studied in Spain with CIS Abroad at Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (UAB). Sanady's major is Business Administration.

Before going to Spain, Sanady took several business courses with students from the United States, China, Egypt, Spain and Germany, to name a few, which gave him a unique international perspective. "The classes helped me understand countries, customs and practices that I can expect to encounter when conducting international business, both in person and electronically."

"Taking a Spanish class while living in Spain was great because I was able to take what I learned in the classroom directly to the streets and practice with native speakers. Actually being able to live in another society, immersed in its culture, meeting new people and making lifelong memories was priceless. Having the opportunity to actually study abroad gives you a unique perspective on world views and customs."

Sanady chose Barcelona specifically because of its easy access to other countries in Europe. He traveled to a new place almost every weekend -- Costa Brava, Genada and Mallorca, Spain, the Amalfi Coast of Italy, Munich, Budapest, Dublin, Switzerland, Amsterdam and London.

Sanaday eventually plans to earn a master's degree and pursue a career in business.
