Eastern Connecticut State University Student Danielle Couture of Glastonbury, Participates in Study Abroad Program

2013 Apr 2

A number of Eastern Connecticut State University students participated in the Study Abroad Program during the fall 2012 semester. Study Abroad allows students to gain cultural insight while living in a host country for a full semester or academic year. Students attend a university in their country, take classes, and earn Eastern credits.

Danielle Couture '14 of Glastonbury, CT, studied at University of Central Lancashire in Preston, England. Couture's major is Communication.

According to Couture, "People who tell you they have studied abroad always say it's a life changing experience. I wasn't sure if I was going to feel this, but being back in America, I've realized I am more mature, independent, driven and social. I was amazed by the fact that I met people from all different places of the world who were just like me. I really felt like I could be myself. I grew comfortable in England, but at the same time was able to challenge myself by taking on things I never thought I could do alone. It was truly a once in a lifetime experience."

Study Abroad engages students in global awareness through international study. The program promotes worldwide education and opportunity to travel and experience a new culture. Study Abroad values diversity, education, and international cooperation.
