Eastern Connecticut State University Student Miles Wilkerson of Mansfield Center Presents at Regional Historical Conference

2014 Oct 29

Being chosen to present at the New England Historical Association's (NEHA) fall conference is a major accomplishment, especially for an undergraduate. NEHA was founded in 1965 in order to promote professional discourse and bolster education and scholarship in the field of history. The name implies that the association prioritizes New England, however, they encourage scholars from all regions and walks of life to submit proposals on any subject, period or geographical area.

Miles Wilkerson '15 of Mansfield Center, CT, recently presented his undergraduate research at NEHA's fall conference. Wilkerson's major is History and Social Science.

Wilkerson's research, entitled "Nunca Olvide: Reframing Historical Discourse on Cuban Exile Terrorism," focused on Cuba's right-wing exiles and the effects that their terrorism and extremist acts had in shaping Cuban government.

"I am very grateful for the opportunity to attend the NEHA conference alongside graduate students and professors," said Wilkerson. "As one of two undergraduates presenting a paper at this conference, I am proud to be representing Eastern at a professional history meeting once again."
