2015 Nov 20

On Friday, Nov. 13, the Eastern Connecticut State University Jazz Ensemble presented their fall concert, "The Music of Duke Ellington," in the Shafer Auditorium.

The Eastern Jazz Ensemble is composed of several students who play traditional jazz band instruments, including saxophone, trumpet, trombone, piano, bass, guitar and drums.

Directed by Stacy Dziuk, the ensemble performed several selections by Ellington including "C Jam Blues," "Perdido," "Caravan," "Main Stem," "Mood Indigo" and "Oclupaca," providing a unique and entertaining show.

This traditional ensemble will continue to entertain Eastern students, faculty and community members with music from a wide variety of styles and eras in the jazz idiom, focusing not only on traditional jazz composers, but also contemporary and up-and-coming composers as well.
