Eastern Connecticut State University's Emily Becher Named Little East Conference Offensive Player-of-the-Week

2015 Oct 7

Emily Becher '18, of Brooklyn majoring in Political Science, was named Little East Conference Offensive Player-of-the-Week for the first time this year in women's soccer.

The Eastern Connecticut State University fall athletic teams are enjoying another successful season, and their athletes are being recognized by the Little East Conference.

Monday, five athletes from three programs were cited with weekly conference honors for the week of Sept. 28 through Oct. 4 (due to relative inactivity conference-wide, no reports were issued this week in the sports of men's and women's cross country), giving Eastern athletes 15 selections this fall in all six programs.

The 5-foot-2 inch sophomore scored her fifth and sixth game-winning goals of the year - 12th and 13th of her 30-match career - as the Warriors edged Connecticut College and Keene State College, both by 1-0 scores. The win over Keene kept Eastern unbeaten in the Little East Conference and sharing first place. Becher, who has scored the only goal of the match four times this year, defeated 2014 LEC playoff champion Keene State midway through the first half Saturday at Owl Athletic Complex. In a mid-week non-conference victory over visiting Conn College - last year's NESCAC playoff champion and NCAA qualifier - Becher scored with 51 seconds left in the first half. Last year's LEC Rookie-of-the-Year, Becher took over sole possession of first place in the conference with seven goals and also tops the LEC with 16 points.
