Eastern Connecticut State University's Emily Becher Named Little East Conference Rookie-of-the-Week in Women's Soccer

2014 Nov 4

Emily Becher '18, of Brooklyn majoring in Political Science, is named Little East Conference Rookie-of-the-Week in women's soccer for the fifth time this year.

Named Rookie-of-the-Week for the third straight week, Becher scored three of the team's goals - two of them game-winners -- in a 2-0-0 week as the Warriors (12-5-1) concluded the regular season on a seven-game winning streak. Becher scored both goals in the second half in a 2-0 Little East Conference victory at Plymouth State University which wound up the regular season this past Saturday. It marked the fifth time (third time in the final four regular-season matches) this year that Becher has scored two goals in a match. Becher enters the LEC playoff having scored at least one goal in each of the final five regular-season matches. Her 15 goals this year are the second-most by a rookie in a season. Only one player in program history - former All-America and E-Club Hall of Famer Lisa Matukaitis -- has scored more than that number. Matukaitis did it three times in her four-year career, with a program-record 23 coming in her All-America season of 1992 when she capped her career with a record 72 goals.
