Eastern Connecticut State University's Emily Becher Named Little East Conference Rookie-of-the-Year and First-Team All-Conference

2014 Nov 13

Emily Becher '18, of Brooklyn majoring in Political Science, named Little East Conference Rookie-of-the-Year and First-Team All-Conference for women's soccer.

Becher, the program's fifth Rookie-of-the-Year since 1998, led the conference in game-winning goals (7) and finished second in goals (18) and points (37). Only one player - Lisa Matukaitis - has scored more goals in a season in program history (23 goals as a senior in 1992 and 22 as a freshman in 1988).

Becher concluded her first season by scoring at least one goal in each of the final seven matches of the year - a record formerly held by Matukaitis in her freshman season of 1988 and later equalled by Daniela Marchitto in 2011. In those final seven matches, Becher totaled 11 goals and an assist, four times recording two goals in a match.
