Eastern Connecticut State University's Emily Becher is Named LEC Rookie-of-the-Week

Emily Becher '18, of Brooklyn who is majoring in Political Science, is named Little East Conference Rookie-of-the-Week for women's soccer in the eighth report of the fall.

Becher contributed to four of Eastern's eight goals in a 2-0-0 week with a road win over Trinity College (3-2) and home Little East Conference victory over Rhode Island College (5-1), the latter triumph allowing Eastern to move into a share of third place in the conference. Becher, ranked in a tie for second in the LEC in points and game-winning goals and tied for third in goals, had two goals and her first career assist against Rhode Island after scoring the giving the Warriors a 2-0 lead en route to the victory over Trinity. Becher tops Eastern with ten goals and 21 points this year, ten points ahead of freshman teammate Nikki Basilicato (Guilford). She is the first freshman in 13 years to score as many as ten goals in a season.

Eastern (9-5-1, 3-2-0 Little East) visits Massachusetts Dartmouth Saturday at 7 p.m. in a conference match.
