Eastern Connecticut State University's Kristina Forsman Named Little East Conference Women's Basketball Player-of-the-Week

Kristina Forsman '15, of Newington majoring in Sport & Leisure Management, was tabbed LEC women's basketball Player-of-the-Week for the first time in her career. Forsman was additionally named as one of five individuals to the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) weekly honor roll.

A four-year starter and two-time captain, Forsman was honored with a weekly award for the first time in her career. Forsman led both teams in scoring in two Little East Conference wins by an average of 20.5 points that moved the Warriors (10-5, 4-1 LEC) into a share of first place in the conference. Entering the week shooting less than 30 percent from the floor, Forsman shot 59.1 percent from the floor and was also 5-for-9 from three-point range and 5-for-5 from the foul line.

Forsman had a season-high 22 points against unbeaten conference leader UMass Dartmouth in a 64-41 win, scoring 18 points in the second half on 7-for-8 field goal shooting. She also hit both of her three-point field goal tries and both of her free throws in the second half. In a 62-44 triumph over the University of Southern Maine, Forsman added 14 points. She was 5-for-9 from the floor in that game, including 3-for-5 from three-point range.

Forsman has started 14 games this season and averages 8.9 points, 2.2 assists and 2.9 rebounds with a team-leading 77.1 free throw percentage and averages only 2.1 turnovers per 40 minutes.
