Eastern Connecticut State University's Michelina Pinto was Named Rookie-of-the-Week in Women's Lacrosse

Michelina Pinto '19 of Groton, majoring in Biology, was named Rookie-of-the-Week in women's Lacrosse.

Pinto scored the first two goals of the match in the first seven minutes in a 13-9 non-conference road win over Gordon College Saturday in the squad's only match of the week. The team's third leading scorer, Pinto also added an assist and her third goal of the match early in the second half to help Eastern move out to a 10-2 lead. In the match, Pinto connected on all three of her recorded shots and also won four of Eastern's 13 draws, picked up two ground balls and caused a turnover.

Pinto has appeared in all ten matches for Eastern (6-4, 1-0 LEC), a winner of four straight. Pinto has started six matches and has 11 goals and four assists. She has picked up 18 ground balls, has won 15 draws and caused 12 turnovers.

The women's lacrosse team hosts Framingham State University in the first meeting between the programs Tuesday at 5 p.m.
