Eastern Connecticut State University's Tarchee Brown Named Little East Conference Men's Basketball Rookie-of-the-Week

Tarchee Brown '18, of Vernon majoring in Physical Education, is named Little East Conference men's basketball Rookie-of-the-Week for the fifth time in nine weeks.

After failing to score in 26 minutes in an earlier win this season against Rhode Island College, Brown led all players with 21 points this past Saturday as the Warriors remained perfect in seven LEC games this year and extended their LEC regular-season win streak to 26 over three years with an 83-59 triumph. Brown helped the Warriors pull away from a seven-point halftime lead and lead by as many as 29 in the second half by hitting four of six field goals (2-for-2 from "three") and both of his free throws over the final 20 minutes.

In two conference wins last week, Brown led the team with a 17.5 scoring average. He shot 47.8 percent from the floor (5-for-10 from "three") and was 8-for-10 from the foul line and turned the ball over only once in 52 minutes. He also contributed seven rebounds.

This year, Brown leads all LEC freshmen with a 14.0 scoring average and is averaging 5.2 rebounds and shooting 44.9 percent from the floor and 70.4 percent from the foul line. He is second on the team with 30 three-pointers.

The men's basketball team looks for its 27th straight LEC regular-season victory when it hosts Western Connecticut State University Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
