Eastern Connecticut State University's Tarchee Brown Named Little East Conference Men's Basketball Rookie-of-the-Year, First-Team All-Conference

Tarchee Brown '18, of Vernon majoring in Physical Education, was named Little East Conference (LEC) men's basketball Rookie-of-the-Year, first-team all-conference, and All-Rookie Team.

Brown is the program's first first-team freshman All-LEC in the 29-year history of the conference, follows Trachone Preston (2013) as LEC Rookie-of-the-Year (he was second-team All-LEC as a freshman), becoming the third Rookie-of-the-Year in program history. Brown is the top freshman scorer in conference (tied for fifth overall) with a 14.7 average and is tied for eighth in LEC in three-point FGs (1.7). Brown was named LEC player-of-the-week once, LEC rookie-of-the-Week, MVP of Rochester tournament, and all-tournament in his debut at the Eastern Tip-Off Tournament. At Rochester, Brown had 37 points, eight rebounds, four assists and was 14-for-21 from the floor with seven three-pointers. At Eastern, Brown had 35 points, ten rebounds, three assists and three steals, going 15-for-28 from the floor with four three-pointers. In consecutive LEC wins in mid-February against Keene State and UMass Dartmouth, Brown had 54 points (including a career-high 29 vs. UMD), 19 rebounds, seven assists and six three-pointers and in the second half against Keene State, totaled 23 points and five rebounds to carry Eastern back from a 12-point halftime deficit.
