Eastern Connecticut State University's Tarchee Brown Named Little East Conference Player-of-the-Week

Tarchee Brown '18, of Vernon majoring in Physical Education, was named Player-of-the-Week for the first time after garnering Rookie-of-the-Week recognition five times in the first nine reports for men's basketball.

In a pair of comeback Little East Conference wins, Brown averaged 27.0 points and 9.5 rebounds and added seven assists when the Warriors clinched their third conference regular-season championship in four years and the No. 1 LEC tournament seed with an 82-76 home win over Keene State College last Wednesday and a 74-65 road win against Massachusetts Dartmouth Saturday.

Brown ignited second-half rallies in both games to wipe out a 12-point halftime deficit against Keene and three-point deficit against UMass Dartmouth. Against Keene, Brown scored a game-high 25 points, grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds and equaled his high of five assists against Keene and followed with a career-high 29 points and contributed eight rebounds against UMass Dartmouth. In the second half against Keene, Brown had 23 of his 25 points on 7-of-14 FG and 7-of-9 FG and pulled down five rebounds and handed out two assists. In the second half against UMass Dartmouth, Brown had 22 points on 7-of-9 field goals (3-of-4 from three-point range) and 5-of-6 free throws.

Brown was 10-of-18 from the floor against UMass Dartmouth and in two games during the week was 6-of-16 from three-point range and sank 12 of 15 free throws. In 35 second-half minutes, he turned the ball over only twice. Brown finished the week as the top-ranked freshman in the conference (fifth overall) with a 15.2 scoring average and among all players was rated 15th in rebounding (5.4), seventh in three-point field goals (42), and 12th in three-point percentage (37.5) and free throw percentage (72.7).

The men's basketball team (19-4, 11-1 Little East) - ranked No. 4 in the NCAA Division III regional poll with two LEC regular-season games remaining -- looks for its sixth straight 20-win season Tuesday when it visits Western Connecticut State University at 7:30 p.m. before closing out the regular season Saturday by hosting the University of Southern Maine at 3 p.m.
