Eastern Connecticut State University's Victoria Pfohl Awarded the Holly E. Zimmerman Memorial Award

2015 Feb 17

Victoria Pfohl '16, of Trumbull majoring in Physical Education, was awarded the Holly E. Zimmerman Memorial Award.

"Vic takes her program of studies seriously and has worked hard to maintain a high grade-point average," noted Dr. Darren Robert, a professor of Health and Physical Education at Eastern. "She has coached several different teams of various ages and I am certain that her players have benefited from having a competent, confident, and caring role model."

Female undergraduates who are junior or senior Health and Physical Education or Sport & Leisure Management majors are eligible for the award. Candidates must have made significant contributions to the Eastern intercollegiate athletic program as either members of an athletic team or as student athletic trainers and have an overall grade-point average of at least 2.70. The candidates must reflect the late Holly Zimmerman's qualities of loyalty, thoughtfulness, and academic determination.

This year's recipients bring to 39 the number of individuals since 1994 recognized with the award, which is named in honor of the late Holly Zimmerman, an Andover native who attended Eastern between 1989 and 1993. A Health and Physical Education major, Holly played for the women's basketball team and was a student athletic trainer who passed away in 1993.
