Eastern Cross Country Runner Christopher Fernandes Concludes Successful Season

The Eastern Connecticut State University men's and women's cross country teams both had seasons to remember in fall 2017. Among the students who competed this year was Christopher Fernandes '21 of Bethel, who majors in Pre-Early Childhood Education and English.

For the women, this was the first season in 25 years they placed in the top half of the NCAA Division III New England Regional Championship. The program also won its first LEC Championship this year. For the men, this was their fourth season in a row competing in the regionals, where the team put together a formidable performance.

The Little East Conference (LEC) was established in 1986 as a single-sport league by six public institutions throughout New England. The LEC has since become a multi-sport league with eight primary members, six affiliate members and 19 championships.
