Eastern Psychology Student Nicole Lenares of Colchester Inducted into Psi Chi Honor Society

2017 May 2

A cohort of high-achieving psychology students from Eastern Connecticut State University was inducted into Psi Chi, the international honor society in psychology, on April 24. Among the inductees was Nicole Lenares '18 of Colchester, who majors in Psychology.

Psi Chi's mission is to encourage excellence in scholarship and to foster the advancement of psychological science. Eastern students who are inducted into Psi Chi must declare a major or minor in psychology, have at least 12 credits of coursework in psychology and attain a 3.5 GPA in psychology and a 3.0 GPA overall.

"The award ceremony serves as an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the contributions and accomplishments of students who study psychology at Eastern," said Joseph Dracobly, professor of psychology and Psi Chi advisor. "It is an honor to have so many students inducted into Psi Chi, especially given that qualification requirements are more stringent at Eastern.

"Our students will not only receive international recognition for academic excellence in psychology, but also opportunities to present research and interact with leaders in the field," added Dracolby. "We hope to inspire more students to contribute to the culture of academic excellence at Eastern, and to take advantage of the opportunity Psi Chi provides for professional growth and creative development."
