Eastern Sophomore Khiara Valentine Named LEC Offensive Player of the Week

The women's field hockey team at Eastern Connecticut State University has benefitted greatly from Khiara Valentine's offseason switch from defense to offense. Her scoring ability landed her the title of Offensive Player of the Week by the Little East Conference (LEC) for the week of Oct. 2. Valentine hails from Morristown and majors in Pre-Social Work.

In wins this past week against Salem State University and Johnson & Wales University, Valentine scored six goals and totaled nine points. She was the focal point of the Warriors offense, taking 13 of the team's 21 shots. Over her past five matches, Valentine has 10 goals and an assist.

Valentine is the only Eastern field hockey player this season to win an LEC award as well as the first Offensive Player of the Week for Eastern's field hockey team since November 2015.
