Eastern Student Alexandra Cross of Watertown Attends National Conference on Undergraduate Research in North Carolina

Ten Eastern Connecticut State University students presented at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) in Asheville, NC, from April 7-9.The conference was established in 1987 and is dedicated to promoting undergraduate research, scholarship and creative activity in all field of study.

Alexandra Cross '16 of Watertown was one of the attendees. Cross majors in Political Science. Cross's research project was titled "Straightening Out the Russian Mold: How State Controlled Nationalism Ostracizes the LGBT Population." "I feel more confident in myself, my work, and my future due to the support of Eastern and acceptance to this conference," said Cross.

Professor Carlos Escoto, undergraduate research and creative activity coordinator at Eastern, chaperoned students on the NCUR trip. "The students got a lot out of the conference," he said. "The students' presentations were great and they all sat in on each other's. The trip had a great sense of comradery."
