Eastern Student Alexis Apel Presents Research at Psychological Science Night

2015 Dec 15

Twenty-nine exemplary psychology students from Eastern Connecticut State University presented their research on Dec. 11 at the department's annual Psychological Science Night.

Among the students was Alexis Apel '16, who majors in Social Work and Psychology. Mentored by Psychology Professor Jennifer Leszczynski , Apel's poster presentation was titled "Gender Differences in the Representation of Celebrity Parenthood in Television Talk Shows."

"Research takes classroom experience and applies it to tangible, practical work," said Psychology Professor Carlos Escoto, faculty mentor to many student researchers. "The presentation of the research is also important," he added, speaking to the communication and organization skills needed for an effective presentation.
