Eastern Student Amanda DeMaio Published in 'Eastern Exposure'

2017 May 3

Amanda DeMaio, a student at Eastern Connecticut State University, had her poems published in the 2017 edition of the student literary journal "Eastern Exposure." DeMaio hails from Niantic and majors in English.

"Being published gives you the chance to share your work that you've put a lot of effort into," said Demaio. "It also gives you satisfaction that all the hard work has paid off. It's nice to be able to have people read your work as well as read the work of others. It's a good place to start if you ever want to have your work published in the future."

"Eastern Exposure" is published annually by the Eastern Writers Guild, a student-run organization. The journal is composed entirely of student work.

"We decided to go with the theme of 'belonging' in this year's journal," said Christina Rossomando, secretary of the Writers Guild. "It was fascinating to go through the submissions and see the different associations that individuals have with the theme. I really love how this year's edition came out."

Members of the Writers Guild sift through student submissions every year to determine the contents of the journal.

"This year's 'Eastern Exposure' brings together a wide array of excellent student work including creative writing and striking visual art," said Daniel Donaghy, English professor and faculty advisor of the Writers Guild. "The club continues to build on the work of its predecessors and has assembled an issue that it and all of its featured writers and artists should be very proud of."
