Eastern Student-Athlete Calli Duthrie of Jewett City and Women's Softball Team Looking for Strong Bounce-Back Season

2018 Mar 12

2017 was a year of rebuilding for the Eastern Connecticut State University women's softball team. The team, which had fallen to the depths of consecutive 15-25 seasons after six straight Little East Conference titles, will be looking to lean heavily on its young talent this year. Head Coach Diana Pepin says that the 12 freshmen and sophomores on the roster all have realistic chances to earn starting spots going into the season. With the team beginning its season with 10 games in Kissimmee, FL, during spring break, Pepin will learn quickly how the team stacks up this year.

Among the students playing on this year's team is Calli Duthrie '19 of Jewett City, who majors in Social Work.

The Little East Conference (LEC) was established in 1986 as a single-sport league by six public institutions throughout New England. The LEC has since become a multi-sport league with eight primary members, six affiliate members and 19 championships.
