Eastern Student-Athlete Christopher Gorman Wins Spring LEC Award

2018 Apr 25

Fourteen student athletes from Eastern Connecticut State University received Little East Conference (LEC) awards in late March and April. The students represent six different teams and included three repeat winners.

Among the awardees is Christopher Gorman '19 of Shrewsbury, who majors in Exploratory Studies. Gorman was named the LEC men's lacrosse Goalie-of-the-Week for the first time in his career the week of April 9. The senior backstop has been sensational this season, recording 108 saves to a .527 save percentage.

The Little East Conference (LEC) was established in 1986 as a single-sport league by six public institutions throughout New England. The LEC has since become a multi-sport league with eight primary members, six affiliate members and 19 championships.

Eastern offers a broad-based, Division III athletic program aimed at safeguarding the amateur aspects of the various sports and maintaining the proper perspective of athletics within Eastern's academic mission. By placing emphasis on the values of equity, diversity, sportsmanship, health and wellbeing, Eastern's athletic program encourages students to contribute more effectively to our society and live richer, fuller lives.
