Eastern Student-Athlete John Boisette Wins 2016-17 Departmental Award

At the 24th annual E-Club-Hall of Fame ceremony, Eastern Connecticut State University proudly announced the winners of the 2016-17 departmental awards

John Boisette '17 of East Hartford was selected as an award recipient for setting an oustanding example of what an Eastern student-athelte should strive to be. Boisette's major is Physical Education.

Boisette, who ran track and field during his academic career, was selected as the Individual Sport Athlete-of-the-Year. Boisette received All-New England honors for the D III and open outdoor championships at the 100- and 200-meter relays.

The Little East Conference (LEC) was established in 1986 as a single-sport league by six public institutions throughout New England. The LEC has since become a multi-sport league with eight primary members, six affiliate members and 19 championships.

Eastern offers a broad-based, Division III athletic program aimed at safeguarding the amateur aspects of the various sports and maintaining the proper perspective of athletics within Eastern's academic mission. By placing emphasis on the values of equity, diversity, sportsmanship, health and wellbeing, Eastern's athletic program encourages students to contribute more effectively to our society and live richer, fuller lives.
