Eastern Student Bryan Hayes of East Granby Completes Study Abroad

2015 Feb 13

The Study Abroad Office at Eastern Connecticut State University helps many students study abroad each year. Study abroad allows students to experience the world and the global community. They can gain cultural insight while living and studying along with students of a host country for a full semester or academic year, while earning Eastern Connecticut State University credits.

Bryan Hayes '16 of East Granby, CT, recently completed a study abroad in France. According to Hayes, he decided to take advantage of Eastern's study abroad program because he wanted to learn more about the cultural differences in various European countries. "I knew that the best way to do so was to experience these cultural differences myself," said Hayes.

Hayes, who majors in Business Administration, said, "My study abroad experience was incredibly eye-opening. I believe that I understand European culture better than ever before. Since returning from my trip, I continue to have a strong desire to learn more about the thousands of different cultures that exist throughout our world."

Studying abroad allows students to become more independent and confident. It helps them improve their communication skills, learn new languages, and experience cultural differences first-hand. Students can build a strong resume as well as earn credits, all while traveling the world. Many students take the opportunity to study abroad during their time at Eastern.
