Eastern Student Christopher Morris of Waterford Presents at Writing Center Conference

2016 May 16

Student tutors from the Writing Center at Eastern Connecticut State University presented research and received scholarships at the New England Writing Centers Association (NEWCA) conference at Keene State University this spring semester.

Christopher Morris '17 of Waterford, who majors in History and English, presented research titled "Divergent Narration: Subverting the Power Dynamics of the Fix-It Shop," which demonstrated the disconnect between university culture and the power of writing centers, especially in reference to the relationship between tutors, tutees and professors.

Morris also received the Robert J. Connors Memorial Scholarship at the conference.

NEWCA is a regional affiliate of the International Writing Center Association. Its purpose is to foster communication among writing centers and provide a forum for concerns for faculty and peer supporters.
