Eastern Student Connor Walsh of Hamden Awarded For Outstanding Student Teaching

Several aspiring teachers at Eastern Connecticut State University were recognized at the Education Departments annual awards ceremony this May. The event highlights the achievements of students who completed their student teaching requirement.

Connor Walsh '16 of Hamden, who majors in Elementary Education and History and Social Science, was recognized.

Students accepted into the Committee for Admission and Retention in Education (CARE) program at Eastern are required to fulfill a year of a student teaching clinical experience. Student teaching is a college-supervised instructional experience.

The Education Department at Eastern prepares graduates for teaching positions in a variety of educational settings, from early childhood through elementary and secondary education through undergraduate and graduate certification programs. Eastern's teacher preparation programs are accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). Faculty members also offer a wide variety of on-campus and online graduate courses and programs for teachers to further develop their knowledge and teaching ability.
