Eastern Student Elise Petersen of Salem Serves as Peer Tutor

The Academic Services Center (ASC) at Eastern Connecticut State University is committed to its mission of assisting Eastern students in realizing the highest level of achievement possible. All students, regardless of their talent level, are encouraged to utilize the resources the ASC offers and make Eastern's educational experience as positive and stress-free as possible.

Among the class of this year's newly trained tutors is Elise Petersen '17 of Salem, CT. Petersen's major is Pre-Secondary Educ Certifictn. She/he is a/an Math Achievement Center tutor.

The ASC is a free tutoring service where all peer student tutors are selected for their ability and interpersonal skills. Tutors are trained undergraduate peer tutors who help students one-on-one to improve in any level of class. They provide feedback and guidance in a friendly, judgment-free zone, helping students to develop knowledge, refine ideas and communicate them in clear and appropriate ways.

Tutors are available six days a weeks to assist students who request help in particular subjects or courses. ASC's service offerings include tutoring support, one-on-one assistance in a variety of content areas and experiences that enhance skills development and time management. All program offerings are designed to assist students to achieve their full potential at the college level.
