2015 Sep 28

During the spring semester, Elissa MacInnis '17 of Avon embraced the opportunity to study abroad in Scotland. When asked about the decision to study abroad, MacInnis replied "I've always wanted to study abroad or live in another country. I'd never been to the United Kingdom and thought it would be a great chance to see some of what Europe has to offer." Describing the experience, MacInnis who majors in Pre-Elementary Education, said "Everything was great! The city was beautiful and I was amazed by all the views. Everyone also seemed really friendly and welcoming. If I ever had the chance I would definitely come back here again."

The Study Abroad Office at Eastern Connecticut State University helps many students study abroad each year. Study abroad allows students to experience the world and the global community. They can gain cultural insight while living and studying along with students of a host country for a full semester or academic year, while earning Eastern Connecticut State University credits.

Studying abroad allows students to become more independent and confident. It helps them improve their communication skills, learn new languages, and experience cultural differences first-hand. Students can build a strong resume as well as earn credits, all while traveling the world. Many students take the opportunity to study abroad during their time at Eastern.
