Eastern Student Emily Menendez of Shelton Concludes Successful Season with Warriors Basketball Team

The Eastern Connecticut State University Women's Basketball team concluded its 2016-17 season this March with a stellar 20-9 record, with a phenomenal 12-2 record against conference opponents and an 11-4 record at home. The team reached the Little East Conference (LEC) championship game but unfortunately came up short against Keene State.

Among the team's student-athletes was Emily Menendez '17 of Shelton, who played forward. Menendez majors in Mathematics.

Menendez averaged 1.1 points per game, 0.9 rebounds per game and 0.1 assists per game. "Emily did a very good job playing her role," said Coach Denise Bierly, "which is playing good defense and rebounding. She is a good leader and is a help to the freshman."

Despite losing in the LEC championship, the Eastern Warriors competed in the NCAA Division 3 Tournament.
