Eastern Student Emma Avery Presents at Northeastern Political Science Association Meeting

2018 Jan 8

Four political science majors from Eastern Connecticut State University presented original research at the Northeastern Political Science Association meeting this past November in Philadelphia.

Among the students was Emma Avery '18 of Bristol, who majors in Environmental Earth Science and Political Science and gave a presentation titled "Environmental Policy in Congress: The Evolution of the Environmental Debate and the Role of Partisanship."

Avery, who completed her research with the assistance of classmate Tess Candler, said "I was very lucky to have the opportunity to present my research with Tess Candler at a professional political science conference. Eastern provides such good undergraduate research opportunities for its students."

The meeting afforded undergraduate students an opportunity to present their own independent research in front of a professional crowd. The students were mentored through the process by Eastern Political Science Professor Nicole Krassas.
