Eastern Student Harrison Brooks '18 of Stratford Inducted into History Honor Society

2018 Apr 10

On April 5, a group of Eastern Connecticut State University students was inducted into Alpha Mu Alpha, Eastern's chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, the national honor society for the study of history.

Harrison Brooks '18 of Stratford was one of the inductees. Brooks's major is Political Science and Economics.

The society promotes the study of history through the encouragement of research, good teaching, publication and the exchange of learning and ideas among historians. It is an American honor society for undergraduate and graduate students and professors of history and it has over 350,000 members, with about 9,500 new members joining each year through 860 local chapters.

Department Chair and Professor of History Joan Meznar said, "The induction ceremony for Phi Alpha Theta is always a highlight of the academic year. It gives us the opportunity to recognize our outstanding students and to celebrate their accomplishments. Membership in Phi Alpha Theta provides entry into a larger community of historians. Eastern's chapter members have presented their research at both regional and national conferences, showcasing the exciting work going on at our institution."
