Eastern Student Josibelk Aponte of Vernon Rockville Inducted Into Spanish Honor Society

Eastern Connecticut State University's World Languages and Cultures Department held its annual induction ceremony for Sigma Delta Pi, the international honor society for Spanish, in the President's Dining Room on April 30. The ceremony, featured a luncheon and reception, as well as recognized the academic excellence of students majoring in Spanish.

Among the inductees was Josibelk Aponte '16 of Vernon Rockville, who majors in Accounting.

"I take Spanish classes to learn more about my language, I like being able to put a name to the grammar and tenses I use daily at home. All my hard work and efforts to improve my skills were appreciated by my professors," said Aponte.

To qualify, students had to participate in three years of college-level Spanish, at least three semester-hours of Hispanic literature or culture and civilization at the junior level; a 3.0 GPA in all Spanish courses taken; a ranking in the upper 35 percent of their class; and a completion of at least three semesters.
