Eastern Student Katherine Burgos Earns Hispanic Alliance Scholarship

Eastern Connecticut State University student Katherine Burgos received a scholarship at the Hispanic Alliance's 15th annual "Noche de Gala" (Night of Celebration) this past June. Sixteen scholarships were awarded in total at the New London event. With three recipients, Eastern was the most represented Connecticut university.

Burgos '16, a biology major from New London, earned the scholarship based on their Latino heritage, academic pursuits and community involvement. Burgos interned at the Hospital Dr. Angel Concepcion Lajara in Domincan Republic, is a member of the Organization for Latin American Students and has worked as a teaching assistant.
