Eastern Student Laura Markley of Preston Attended Vermont Conference

Laura Markley '15 of Preston, along with three other students and Assistant Professors Allison Weinsteiger and Steve Nathan from Eastern Connecticut State University's Environmental Earth Science Department, participated in the New England Intercollegiate Geological Conference (NEIGC) from Sept. 30–Oct. 2. The annual meeting was held at Middlebury College in Middlebury, VT. Markley majors in Environmental Earth Science.

The three-day gathering brought together educators, the private sector, government and other groups to showcase a broad range of field trips exploring all aspects of regional geology. Eastern students participated in a field trip that focused on watershed protection, with the highlight of seeing firsthand the extensive damage caused by Hurricane Irene.
