Eastern Student Leopoldo Navarro Earns Hispanic Alliance Scholarship

Eastern Connecticut State University student Leopoldo Navarro received a scholarship at the Hispanic Alliance's 15th annual "Noche de Gala" (Night of Celebration) this past June. Sixteen scholarships were awarded in total at the New London event. With three recipients, Eastern was the most represented Connecticut university.

Navarro '15, a Spanish major from New London, earned the scholarship based on their Latino heritage, academic pursuits and community involvement. Navarro has worked as a youth supervisor for New London Youth Affairs; is a dance instructor, teaching assistant and member of the New London Latino Heritage Month and Caribbean Night planning committees.
