Eastern Student Matthew Pappalardo of Mansfield Center Contributes Winning Artwork to Windham Hospital Auxilary Event

2014 Dec 12

Eastern Visual Arts student Matthew Pappalardo '15 of Mansfield Center, CT, was one of Professor June Bisantz's ECSU Design Group students who contributed artwork for a recent Windham Hospital Auxilary event. The 19th annual Autumn Gala, "Havana Nights," was held at the Marriot Hotel at Adriaen's Landing in Hartford on November 22. Pappalardo's artwork was selected as the winning fan design and was reproduced and provided as a souvenir to all attendees.

Pappalardo assisted in the effort by designing vintage Cuban-themed artwork based on the event's theme. The participating students' designs were selected and presented in the form of fans that were displayed throughout the reception rooms, signs to direct people to the event and as a large photo backdrop for souvenir photos. The event included a gourmet dinner, dancing, silent auction and presentation of annual Auxilary awards for Caregiver of the Year (Juanita Vasquez), Physician of the Year (Michael Kilgannon) and Philanthropy (The Jeffrey P. Ossen Family Foundation).

"This was a wonderful opportunity for the Eastern Design Group. Each project my students work on requires sophisticated design skills - it is always a joy to work with such talented young people - I'm very proud of them," said Professor Bisantz.
