Eastern Student McKenzie Korte of Westerly Completes Successful Internship

2017 Feb 6

A number of Eastern students commit to student internships as an on-site practical work experience with a company or organization that can provide them with firsthand knowledge of a career field. The internship is usually related to the student's major or is directly related to the student's career interest. They often complement the student's coursework, can incorporate skills and classroom experience into the workplace and assist the student in developing new abilities and skills.

McKenzie Korte '17 of Westerly completed an internship at the Mashantucket Pequot Museum. Korte's major is History.

Korte's internship was as a research Intern. The position involved assisting the museum staff with a number of historical and archaeological research projects.

"My favorite part about working at the museum was the number of different opportunities I had. Learning how a museum research center operates was a very positive experience for me. Internships provide an important look into 'real-world' applications of a college degree," said Korte.

Korte is interested in entering a graduate program in history in the fall of 2018.
