Eastern Student Renae St. John of Jewett City Presents at COPLAC Research Conference

2015 Mar 17

Renae St. John '15, an Eastern Connecticut State University student from Jewett City, presented at the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges' (COPLAC) Northeast Regional Research Conference this past fall semester at Keene State College in New Hampshire.

St. John majors in Music and English. St. John's performance was a rendition of "Via resti servita, madama brillante" (Do go on, my brilliant lady) from Le Nozze di Figaro (The Marriage of Figaro), performed alongside classmate Alexis Kurtz.

“I felt that we represented Eastern's budding Music program very well at the conference,” said St. John. "Often when people think of opera, they think of a stuffy environment, falling asleep in the mezzanine, not being able to understand what’s going on. At COPLAC, Alexis and I presented our scene in a way that the audience was fully engaged and aware of what was going on, despite the fact that it was an Italian duet.”
