2015 Jul 28

Sabrina Davis '16 of Willimantic recently wrapped up an internship at Eastern Connecticut Area Health Education Center, Inc.. Davis's major is Social Work.

Davis' responsibilities included improving the implementation of the Collegiate Health Service Corps program, which helps disadvantaged college students to achieve their dreams of becoming health care professionals. Through event planning, administrative work and professional networking, Sabrina is not only helping to achieve her employer's goal but also her own.

When asked about how students should go about trying to find internships, Davis replied, "First and foremost, all students should establish a relationship with the Center for Internships and Career Development. The Center is the best resource for seeking internships."

The Center for Internships and Career Development is a valuable resource for students as it promotes strong partnerships between Eastern and potential employers. The Center plays an integral role in fostering excellence in career development and preparation among Eastern students and provides current information on the real workforce needs of employers, which students can use to their advantage. It also helps employment recruiters discover, recruit and hire Eastern students and alumni. They also work closely with companies who are hiring for internships or entry-level career positions in order to learn current and future workforce requirements. They then communicate this information to academic departments to align curriculum with labor market needs.
