2014 Jul 17

Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK) is a national leadership honor society for college men and women. It was founded at Washington and Lee University, Lexington, VA, in 1914. The founders formulated the idea that leaders of exceptional quality and versatility in college life should cooperate in worthwhile endeavors, and that outstanding students, faculty and staff should meet on a basis of mutual interest, understanding and helpfulness. The Eastern Connecticut State University Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa was installed on May 13, 1994. Eastern is the first and only circle in New England. To date, over 700 faculty, students, alumni, and honorary members have been inducted into Eastern's circle

Eastern Connecticut State University Student Stephen Taylor of Higganum, CT, was one of the ODK's eboard members for the 2013-14 academic year. Taylor's major is Sociology.

Omicron Delta Kappa was the first honor society of national scope to give recognition and honor for meritorious leadership and service in extracurricular activities, to promote outstanding scholarship, and to encourage the development of general campus citizenship. Today there are more than 235 colleges and universities with ODK Circles throughout the United States. Exemplary character, responsible leadership, service in campus life, as well as outstanding scholarship, are considered when choosing an inductee. ODK inducts juniors and seniors with a 3.5 overall GPA who exemplify ODK's mission.

As an eboard member, Taylor participated in the ODK National Leadership Honor Society induction ceremony during the spring semester.
