Eastern Student Tammy DeGennaro of Taftville Awarded Scholarship at "English Night"

Two star students majoring in English at Eastern Connecticut State University were awarded scholarships at the department's annual showcase "English Night."

Tammy DeGennaro '17 of Taftville was awarded the Constance Campo Scholarship. She majors in English.

"Tammy's questions and comments are integral to classroom discussions," said Lisa Fraustino, chair of the English Department. "She also demonstrated tact and thoughtfulness while dealing with delicate issues of race and gender."

The scholarship was established in memory of Constance Campo, who was a longtime member of the English Department staff. It is for a non-traditional student who has demonstrated excellence in his or her studies, as well as shown sensitivity to gender and diversity issues, as did Ms. Campo.
