Eastern Student Taylor Coutant of Tolland Completes Successful Internship with Allstate

Eastern Connecticut State University student Taylor Coutant '18 of Tolland recently completed an internship with Allstate Exclusive Agency. Coutant's major is Business Administration.

Coutant gained invaluable experience while engaged in her internship including human relations, software program and conflict resolution skills, all which assisted her with her assigned workload. She was also able to apply her knowledge of business administration and apply it toward her tasks at the internship.

Coutant assisted Allstate customers by assisting in matching them with policies and insurance plans to fit their needs, which served to help her hone her communication skills. "It was fun to shop around and see what worked best for them," said Coutant.

As a result of her internship experience, Coutant realized that she is interested in pursuing a career that aligns with her experience at Allstate after graduating. "I knew I wanted to pursue a position related to insurance where I would engage with people. When I got the internship and applied my skills to the daily tasks I was assigned at Allstate, I really enjoyed it," said Coutant. "I am a firm believer that internships can open doors to many opportunities."

Coutant is interested in opening her own insurance agency in the future. She was offered a full-time position at Allstate Exclusive Agency after graduation.
