Eastern Student Tess Candler Presents at Northeastern Political Science Association Meeting

2018 Jan 8

Four political science majors from Eastern Connecticut State University presented original research at the Northeastern Political Science Association meeting this past November in Philadelphia.

Among the students was Tess Candler '18 of Ledyard, who majors in Political Science and Economics and gave a presentation titled "Environmental Policy in Congress: The Evolution of the Environmental Debate and the Role of Partisanship."

"The most challenging part of working on this project was figuring out how to combine our unique research interests into a cohesive paper," said Candler when asked about working with her partner, classmate Emma Avery. "It was incredibly rewarding to present my research and get feedback from a panel of professors. This was the first conference I had attended where I received detailed, written feedback on my paper."

The meeting afforded undergraduate students an opportunity to present their own independent research in front of a professional crowd. The students were mentored through the process by Eastern Political Science Professor Nicole Krassas.
