2015 Sep 28

During the spring semester, Vivian Nguyen '16 of Hartford embraced the opportunity to study abroad in Australia. When asked about the decision to study abroad, Nguyen replied "I decided to study abroad because I thought it would be a wonderful experience and a great opportunity to travel across the world." Describing the experience, Nguyen who majors in Sociology, said "I would describe my experience as absolutely amazing! It was the best decision of my life. Not only did I get to spend several months in a different country and on a different continent, but I got to do it while furthering my education."

The Study Abroad Office at Eastern Connecticut State University helps many students study abroad each year. Study abroad allows students to experience the world and the global community. They can gain cultural insight while living and studying along with students of a host country for a full semester or academic year, while earning Eastern Connecticut State University credits.

Studying abroad allows students to become more independent and confident. It helps them improve their communication skills, learn new languages, and experience cultural differences first-hand. Students can build a strong resume as well as earn credits, all while traveling the world. Many students take the opportunity to study abroad during their time at Eastern.
